The following email was forwarded to me.

Please support the DIA on this issue (as you can see the Christians are not) and feel free to pass on to those that would be supportive of the DIA. Thanks.

Email follows.....

Subject: Christians Hear This -- Gay and Lesbian Pride Month at the DIA

I am hoping to get it out to as many people as possible. It is my prayer that we as Christians will stand up and say a loud "NO" to the following:

Here is the headline:
*June is Gay and Lesbian Pride Month at the DIA.***
Anyone who has a membership at the Detroit Institute of Arts should know their money is going to sponsor programming this month that will include a poetry reading and two artist demonstrations "depicting homosexual issues"

I spoke with the Institute's membership director this morning. He was initially unaware of the promotion, but after researching it with his programming department, he called me back and confirmed the above. I asked him if my $84-family membership fee will be used to support this programming and he said yes. When I told him I didn't want my family membership being used to pay for something I could not bring my family to see, he said I could simply avoid going to the part of the museum where the activities would take place. I pointed out that as a member, I should have the freedom to take my family anywhere in the museum. If I am supporting this museum with my money, it should support me with its programming. With great sadness of heart, I cancelled my membership and told him to please pass along my comments to the programming director.

But mine is just one voice, I would really like the Christian community to learn about the DIA's programming plans. Perhaps if enough of us rise up,
cancel our memberships and voice strongly that we will not support deviant programming, we can change that programming.

It's important to note that I not only canceled my membership. I am also getting a refund of my membership fee.

In the last month or so, there was an article in the Detroit News stating that the DIA is hurting financially. How many membership fees do you suppose they can afford to refund?

Be polite, but please, please call them and tell them what you think of their choice of programming. Do we want to support this???

Here is some contact info for the DIA:

Kim Baker, Membership Director 313-833-7892 kbaker@dia.org

Mr. Baker gave me this contact as well... AnneMarie Erickson Vice President 313- 833-7964

Valerie Parks (May be the Programming Director) 313-833-4249 parks@dia.org
Graham Beal, Director (I have yet to unearth direct contact info for him or Board Members).
Main number 313-833-7900 www.dia.org

Will you please pass this info along to other homeschool groups and others in the Christian community who would be interested in protesting this.

Thanks,
Regina S.

Obviously you can contact the same people and show your support for programs that highlight the GLBT community.
